After-Hours Care
What We Mean by “After-Hours”
At Villa Nova Medical Clinic, after-hours care refers to care requested outside of our regular clinic hours (9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.).
Our physicians work varying schedules during the week, including:
-
Dr. Martin Hurley: 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
-
Dr. Esilier Aguilar: 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., with after-hours availability as needed
-
Dr. Keihan Power: 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Physician schedules and after-hours availability may change, and after-hours coverage is not guaranteed on any given day.
How After-Hours Care Works
- After-hours care is provided at physician discretion, based on clinical urgency and availability.
-
Not all concerns can or should be addressed after hours.
-
Physicians may contribute to after-hours care as needed, depending on circumstances.
-
Routine issues are expected to be addressed during regular clinic hours.
Appropriate Uses of After-Hours Care
-
After-hours care may be considered for urgent medical issues that cannot safely wait until the next business day, such as:
-
Worsening symptoms related to an active medical issue
-
Time-sensitive follow-up when advised by your physician
-
Urgent concerns related to recent test results or treatments
-
Not Appropriate for After-Hours Care
-
After-hours care is not intended for:
-
Routine prescription renewals
-
Chronic condition management
-
Administrative requests (forms, notes, insurance paperwork)
-
Non-urgent questions
-
Missed appointments or scheduling issues
These requests should be addressed during regular clinic hours.
-
What to Do If Care Is Needed After Hours
-
If you need medical care outside of clinic hours:
-
For urgent or emergency symptoms (e.g., chest pain, shortness of breath, severe pain, fainting):
→ Go directly to the nearest Emergency Department or call 911 -
For non-emergency concerns that cannot wait:
→ Consider 811 HealthLine, urgent care clinics, or local walk-in clinics -
For issues that can safely wait:
→ Contact the clinic during regular business hours
-
Important Notes
- After-hours availability varies and cannot be guaranteed
-
After-hours care does not replace emergency services
-
Use of after-hours care is based on clinical judgment and physician availability
-
Repeated inappropriate after-hours requests may result in care being redirected to regular clinic hours
Our Commitment
We aim to provide safe, responsible, and sustainable care for all patients. Clear boundaries around after-hours care help ensure that physicians remain available, rested, and able to provide high-quality care during regular clinic hours.
