At Villa Nova Medical Clinic, our team is committed to providing patient-centred, evidence-based care in a respectful and collaborative environment. We value continuity, clear communication, and a team-based approach that supports both patients and providers.

Our physicians and nursing staff work closely together to ensure care is delivered safely, efficiently, and with attention to each patient’s individual needs.

Dr. Eslier Aguilar, MD, CCFP

Family Physician

Dr. Eslier Aguilar is a family physician with over 30 years of clinical experience in comprehensive primary care. He completed his Doctor of Medicine degree in Cuba in 1993, followed by certification through the Medical Council of Canada and Certification in Family Medicine (CCFP) from the College of Family Physicians of Canada in 2002. He is fully licensed to practise in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Dr. Aguilar provides longitudinal, patient-centred care across a broad range of family medicine concerns, including chronic disease management, preventative care, joint injections, and minor procedures. Cervical cancer screening for his patients is provided through a women’s health clinic led by his registered nurse, with Pap testing clinics offered periodically based on patient demand.

He works collaboratively within the Villa Nova Medical Clinic team to ensure continuity of care and appropriate follow-up for his patients.
Dr. Aguilar is fluent in both English and Spanish, allowing him to support a diverse patient population.

Dr. Martin Hurley, MD, MSc, CCFP

Family Physician

Dr. Martin Hurley is a family physician at Villa Nova Medical Clinic. He completed undergraduate and graduate training in Biochemistry at Memorial University of Newfoundland, followed by medical school and Family Medicine residency training. He obtained his CCFP designation in 2025.

Dr. Hurley has a special interest in procedural medicine and works collaboratively with clinic colleagues to provide procedural care through internal referrals. He is supported by Registered Nurse Sheila Aguilar, who assists in delivering nursing care within her scope to improve access and continuity.

Dr. Hurley has completed advanced training and certification in medical aesthetics through the Canadian Association of Medical Aesthetics. Medical aesthetic services are provided outside the scope of insured primary care services.

Originally from Conception Bay South, Dr. Hurley is pleased to be practicing in his home community.

Dr. Keihan Power, MD, MPH, CCFP

Family Physician

Dr. Keihan Power is a family physician at Villa Nova Medical Clinic. He completed undergraduate training in Biochemistry (Nutrition) and Behavioural Neuroscience (2017), a Master of Public Health (MPH, 2018) and medical training at Memorial University of Newfoundland (2023). He obtained his CCFP designation in 2025.

Dr. Power provides comprehensive primary care and works collaboratively with clinic colleagues. He also has a special interest in teaching and working with medical learners. He is originally from Mount Pearl and is pleased to be practicing in the community.

Michelle Aguilar, RN

Registered Nurse

Michelle Aguilar is a Registered Nurse who supports patient care within the clinic, working primarily alongside Dr. Eslier Aguilar. She provides nursing services within her scope of practice, including cervical cancer screening through periodic women’s health clinics, as well as other clinical and preventive care services.

Michelle completed her nursing education at the Western Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and has pursued additional professional development, including advanced training in PRP and injection therapies, as well as advanced medical aesthetics training through CAMA. Her work within the clinic remains focused on patient safety, evidence-based practice, and high-quality nursing care.

Women’s health clinics are scheduled periodically based on patient demand, with patients contacted in advance when appointments become available.

Sheila Aguilar Correa, BnRN

Registered Nurse

Sheila Aguilar is a Registered Nurse working closely with Dr. Martin Hurley, providing nursing care and clinical support within the scope of her practice and established medical directives. She plays an integral role in supporting patient care and clinic operations.

Sheila holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Memorial University of Newfoundland and has completed advanced training in medical aesthetics through CAMA. 

Sheila plans to pursue Nurse Practitioner training in the coming years as part of her continued professional development.

Lillian Mercer, MOA

Medical Office Administrator

Lillian is a Medical Office Assistant who supports Dr. Eslier Aguilar’s practice and has been working within the clinic for approximately three years. She plays a key role in coordinating administrative aspects of patient care and helping ensure smooth day-to-day clinic operations.

Lillian assists with appointment coordination, patient communication, and clinic workflow, helping to support timely and organized care delivery. She works closely with the clinical team to ensure patients are supported throughout their visits and follow-up processes.
